Activités / CV

Hartmut W. Gundel has studied physics at the University Erlangen-Nürnberg in Germany where he obtained his degree as Diplomphysiker univ. in 1986, working on the propagation of electron beams generated by a pseudo spark discharge and its interaction with matter. From 1987 to 1989 he was a Fellow at the European Laboratory for Particle Physics (CERN) in Geneva, Switzerland. After initially participating in the development of a plasma lens for antiproton focussing, he concentrated on the investigation of the dynamic properties of ferroelectric bulk ceramic material early in 1988. Together with his colleagues Dr. H. Riege (CERN) and Prof. Jan Handerek (University of Katovice, Poland), he discovered high intense electron emission from these materials in 1989. From 1990 to 1996 he hold an Assistant position at the Berlin University of Technology, being in charge of the ferroelectric research activities of the Institut für Theoretische Elektrotechnik. He received his Dr. rer. nat. degree from the University Erlangen-Nürnberg for his work on "Electron Emission from Ferroelectrics: A New Generation of Pulsed Electron Beam Sources" in 1995. In 1996 he joined the University of Nantes, where he was habilitated early in 1998. Since summer 1998 he holds a permanent professor's position in the Physics Department of the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Nantes. He is a member of foundation of the "Laboratoire de Physique des Isolants et d'Optronique" (L.P.I.O.), where at present he is Assistant to the Director.
