Activities / Resume

Rafael Encinas de Muñagorri is professor of law at the University of Nantes for almost twenty years. Director of the research center Law and Social Change since 2015, he is also in charge of the degree of Master in Social Law. He is teaching International and European Labour Law. Honorary member of the Institut Universitaire de France, he has been Director of the national network Law, sciences and techniques during five years.

He studied labour law and jurisprudence at the university of Paris X Nanterre and hold a PhD in contract law. Agrégé of private law and criminal sciences, he joined successively the University of the Pacific (Tahiti) and the University of Burgundy (Dijon). He published on theory and sources of law, expertise and evidence, law and sciences. He has been director and/or contributor of books published in french : Expertise and Governance of Climate Change; Legal Analysis of (x). Law among social sciences. He is also the author of a General Introduction of law.

Visiting research scholar at the History of Science Department of Harvard University, he has been invited and many universities, notably in South America (Argentine, Brazil Columbia). He is member of international networks in theory of law and legal philosophy (IVR) and of labour law (Cielo Laboral, Labour Law Research Network). He is member of the editorial committee of the journal Droit & Société and has been appointed expert to assess national and European research programs.

Rafael Encinas de Muñagorri’s current research interests are in legal thought and its relations with others domains of knowledge ; epistemology and methodology ; transnational labour law.
