Since 2015, the Erasmus + programme has opened up outside Europe through the International Credit Mobility action. Since 2021, this action is called Higher Education Mobility supported by External Policy Funds (Action AC171).

It concerns mobility projects between Erasmus+ countries and Erasmus+ partner countries (outside Europe). The objective of this action is to enable individual participants to develop their professional skills and deepen their intercultural knowledge through international mobility. The projects allow the implementation of study and internship mobility for students (from 2 to 12 months), mobility for teachers-researchers (teaching mission) and administrative staff (training mobility).
