International students: Finding a temporary job

What you need to know before finding a job

European students have the same rights as French nationals. The legal full-time working week in France is 35 hours.

Foreign students from outside the European Union can work up to 964 hours a year, or around 20 hours a week (i.e. 60% of the annual working week), if they hold a "visa long séjour - valant titre de séjour" (VLS-TS). Beyond this period, your work contract must be in line with your course of study, and your employer must apply for a provisional work permit.
Exception: Algerian students must apply for an Autorisation Provisoire de Travail (APT).
