Project description

DOCKSIDE (DOCtoral program in Khmer universities Strengthening the International Development of Environmental and maritime research) is a structural project cofunded by the Erasmus + program – KA2 Cooperation for innovation and exchange of good practices – Capacity Building in the field of Higher Education. The consortium includes 3 European partners (Nantes Université, Universidade de Vigo and Syddansk Universitet) and 4 Cambodian universities (National University of Management, Royal University of Law and Economics, University of Battambang (UBB), Royal University of Agriculture).

The project is coordinated by the Nantes Université, at the LEMNA laboratory, by Lionel LEMIALE.

The DOCKSIDE project aims at strengthening capacities in the field of higher education in Cambodia: the project will provide a set of activities to enhance the scientific research outputs as well doctoral programs linked with key fields of studies, Environment and maritime studies. 

Objectives and activities

The objective of the DOCKSIDE project is to support all Cambodian researchers and students specialized in Economics, Management, Agriculture, Environment and Fisheries. More specifically, the objective is to :

  • improve the quality and attractiveness of PhD programs in Cambodia;
  • enhance scientific cooperation between researchers and PhD students;
  • enhance the internationalisation of Cambodian universities.
It also aims at strengthening the multidisciplinary research as well as cooperation between Cambodian and European universities.

The activities of the project focused on the setting of a national research network, the organisation of a summer school, trainings sessions as well as workshops, the purchase of education equipment and the creation of an online platform of data sharing.

Erasmus + Capacity Building projects

Erasmus + Capacity-building projects in the field of higher education support the modernisation, accessibility and internationalisation of higher education in Partner Countries.

The main priorities of the projects are:

  • the development and improvement of curricula,
  • the improvement of the higher education and training quality,
  • the improvement of governance systems,
  • the development of relations between higher education systems and society.
