Chimie organique

Avec André Guingant (DR-CNRS) il co-fonde le groupe Symbiose (Synthèse multiétapes et bioscience), ils seront par la suite rejoint par leur collègue Didier Dubreuil (Professeur). Au sein de son équipe, avec ses collègues Monique Mathé-Allainmat (CR-CNRS), Laurence Arzel (IE-CNRS), Fabrice Dénès (MC) et des étudiants de Master et de thèse, ainsi que des stagiaires post-doctoraux, leurs activités de recherche actuelles concernent la synthèse de molécules biologiquement actives dans les domaines du cancer, du SIDA et des maladies neuro-dégénératives, à travers des collaborations universitaires et industrielles, ainsi que le développement de nouvelles méthodologies mettant en œuvre une étape de chimie radicalaire. Cette équipe s'intéresse également à la compréhension des mécanismes biologiques à travers la synthèse de molécules marquées sélectivement avec des isotopes non radioactifs. Des collaborations avec le groupe de Didier Dubreuil concernent la synthèse de composés biologiquement actifs (KRN 7000 et analogues, nucléosides contraints).

Coauteur de plus de 110 publications et brevets (h-index 25), plus de 60 conférences sur invitations.

Avec André Guingant, il est à l'origine de la création de la société AtlanChim (AtlanChim a été lauréat 2002 du Ministère de la Recherche, catégorie "Entreprise Innovante" ; lauréat 2003 de la fondation de France AVENTIS). En avril 2008, cette entreprise de synthèse à façon est devenue AtlanChim Pharma (www.atlanchimpharma.com)

Distinction

 "Drug Discovery and Development Awards 2001" d'un montant de 75000$, décerné par le comité scientifique de la firme pharmaceutique américaine GlaxoSimthKline. Ce prix partagé avec Erwann LORET (Marseille, CNRS-UPR 9027) récompense des travaux concernant de nouveaux inhibiteurs contre le VIH.
