Research at Université de Nantes
A major research centre in Western France
Research is a major growth sector for Université de Nantes. As an innovative force, the University also has research agreements with industry and shares its discoveries with the society at large.
This new knowledge is supported
by more than 3,200 permanent and contract research staff (teachers, researchers, scientists, administrative and technical staff, PhD students) working in laboratories that have all been accredited by the national government.

doctoral college with 8 post-graduate schools.
The doctoral college hosts more than 1299 doctorate students each year, 235 thesis were defended in 2010-2011.
Welcome of foreign researchers
Université de Nantes welcomes overseas researchers and associated professors from all over the world. They collaborate with Université de Nantes research projects, doctoral (co-tutelle) or post-doctoral projects or they come as invited professors.
